Psalms 20 ASV
Summary: A royal psalm meant to be prayed over the king before a military campaign, Psalm 20 is a communal blessing: "may the LORD answer you in the day of trouble... send you help from the sanctuary" (v. 1-2). It contrasts trust in military hardware with trust in God, "some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (v. 7). The psalm closes with a prayer that the king be granted victory and that God answer when called upon.
