Isaiah 12 GNV
Summary: This short chapter is a psalm of thanksgiving to be sung "in that day" of restoration, opening with praise that God's anger is turned away and He has become salvation: "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid" (v. 2). The people are pictured drawing water joyfully from the "wells of salvation" (v. 3), and are called to make known God's deeds among the nations, proclaiming His name is exalted. The chapter closes urging Zion's inhabitants to cry out and sing, for the Holy One of Israel is great in their midst, ending the first major section of the book on a note of exuberant praise.
1And thou shalt say in that day, O Lord, I will prayse thee: though thou wast angrie with me, thy wrath is turned away, and thou comfortest me.
2Beholde, God is my saluation: I will trust, and will not feare: for ye Lord God is my strength and song: he also is become my saluation.
3Therefore with ioy shall ye drawe waters out of the welles of saluation.
4And ye shall say in that day, Prayse the Lord: call vpon his Name: declare his workes among the people: make mention of them, for his Name is exalted.
5Sing vnto the Lord, for he hath done excellent things: this is knowen in all the worlde.
6Cry out, and shoute, O inhabitant of Zion: for great is ye holy one of Israel in the middes of thee.
